Sowers of the Seed Overview and Messaging
Imagine a partnership with our churches that can both grow the kingdom and introduce the church to new resources for fulfilling the great commission - all at the same time.
Sowers of the Seed (SOS) is a state approved strategy focused on reaching the lost and unchurched for Christ by working with Pastors and their congregations in their community.
It strengthens the relationship between the local Gideon Camp, the Pastors, and their congregations, by providing Church access to new evangelistic resources available from The Gideons International.
SOS recognizes and utilizes the respective unique features and resources of the Churches and the Gideon Ministry, without adversely impacting in any way, their fundamental need to remain at arms-length from each other.
The primary intent of SOS is to benefit the Churches, thus mitigating past perceptions of only seeking support from the churches. This “taking/asking” perception has been an increasing obstacle in relationships between Pastors and their local Gideon Camp.
Instead of "asking", SOS "offers" resources and outreach tools available from the Gideons International, including the Annual Pastor Workshop and personal visits by the local Gideons.
SOS places the Pastors and their members’ front and center in the leadership and implementation of Sowers of the Seed, yet is fully supported by the Gideon Ministry, its members, and its resources.
This effort has been developed utilizing guidelines found within the existing procedures of The Gideons International.
A state web site, arkansasgideon.com/home, is the resource home for all things SOS. This site is designed to provide a central point for implementing and monitoring the initiative.
From State to Local Camps - every needed tool is available to achieve the TGI goal of winning the lost for Christ while building strong relationships with Pastors and their congregations.
